Our volunteer specialties offer something for everyone:

Play Partners

This volunteer role takes place exclusively in the Aquarium’s PlayQuarium Exhibit, an immersive space designed with our youngest guests in mind. Play Partners will engage in fun, play activities in our different exhibit galleries and promote fun, safe play in these spaces. This role is great for someone who enjoys working with young kids/pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Studies and families in a fast-paced environment; must be able to stand, squat, bend, and the ability to speak spanish is a plus.
1.5 days of in-person training + asynchronous training, 12 hour commitment per month minimum over a 6 month period minimum

Touch Pool Assistants

Volunteers in this role will assist our staff at the touch pool by engaging with guests waiting in line, providing rules of the touch pool, sharing information and answering questions about the animals in our touch pool, with the ability to work up to assisting with facilitation at the touch pool itself. This role is great for someone who enjoys working with kids, families, and school groups in a fast-paced environment; must be able to stand for long periods of time.
1.5 days of training + asynchronous training, 12 hour commitment per month minimum over a 6 month period minimum

Conservation Concierge

These volunteers help guests learn about the conservation work that is connected to what they are seeing at the Aquarium today and also helps guests wayfind and know times of shows, feedings, and other events happening at the aquarium. This role is ideal for a person who enjoys talking with others, this role allows for volunteers to sit for comfort/accessibility.
1.5 days of training, 12 hour commitment per month minimum over a 6 month period minimum

Now Interpreters

Interpreters utilize kits for various zones in the aquarium where they share activities and challenge our guests to observe our animals more closely to discover something new on their visit. This role is ideal for a person who enjoys talking with others and sharing information. This person must be able to stand on their feet for long periods of time and be able to carry small items with them during their shift.
1.5 days of training, 12 hour commitment per month minimum over a 6 month period minimum
