Coney Island Beach Stewardship
Saturday, February 22 and Saturday, February 29
Calling all marine life lovers and park stewards: volunteer with NYC Parks Stewardship and the NY Aquarium!
Join us to help prepare beach grass stems for planting to keep our beach thriving. Before stems are ready to be planted on the dune, they must be processed and packaged in a way to ensure their viability. This process involves removing outer layers of old growth to expose the green live portion of the plants as well as removing excess roots and rhizomes. That's where you come in!
Supplies are provided but volunteers should dress in clothes that can get dirty, close-toed shoes, and warm layers. You are encouraged to bring your own water bottles. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone. Space is limited and registration is required.
