Meet the Team

WCS Education takes great pride in our team! Unlike most summer programs, it's our year-round Conservation Educators who develop the camp sessions and create unforgettable experiences for your campers. Take a chance to get to know our stellar team!

Kari H

Camp Director

Kari (she/her) has been the Camp Director and Manager of Education Programs at the New York Aquarium since 2018. Her goal is to make sure camp runs smoothly for campers and their grownups, so please reach out if you have any questions before or during camp. Kari's favorite part of summer is getting to know each camper and she can't wait to see you all!

Edna R

Edna (she/her) has been working at the New York Aquarium since June of 2019. Her main role is to coordinate children and family programs. During the summer, she loves working with all camp grades to help support marine conservation in a fun and positive way. Sharks are her all-time favorite animal!

Becca K

Becca (she/her) has been working at the Aquarium since 2015, first with our conservation team and now as the Coordinator of School Programs in the Education department. You can find Becca at the beach at any time of the year but especially when it's time for summer camp! She loves local marine life (from sea robins to sharks), reading and exploring new places!

Shinara S

Shinara (she/her) is a Conservation Educator at the New York Aquarium. She's been teaching kids and adults about marine biology and conservation since April 2019. During the summer, Shinara loves being outdoors looking for local and migratory birds. You can catch her on the beach singing with her binoculars!

Mike C

Mike (they/them) has been working at the New York Aquarium since April 2019. They are responsible for teaching children, family, and school programs as well as camp during the summer months. During the summer you can find Mike searching the seafloor for cool invertebrates like snails, or dancing on the beach to some funky music!

Rachel S

Rachel (she/her) has been the Outreach Conservation Educator at the New York Aquarium since fall 2018. During the summer, you can find Rachel out exploring the Coney Island Beach with the Penguin aquarium campers. She loves Harry Potter, chocolate donuts, and horseshoe crabs!

Katie M

Katie (she/her) started as an Adjunct Conservation Educator at the New York Aquarium in June 2019, just in time for summer camp! During the summer, she likes to hang out with our Extended Care campers and soak up a little extra Aquarium fun! Katie loves ice cream, science experiments, and sea jellies!

Vanessa S.

Vanessa (she/her) has been working as the Birthday Party Coordinator at the New York Aquarium since October 2018. You can find her watching Penguins (campers and actual penguins)! During the summer, she'll be out waddling with her Penguin camp and talking about her dog.
