Today, scientists from WCS's New York Aquarium announced a collaboration with OCEARCH to conduct research in the waters off New York.

There are more than two dozen shark species found in the area. What role does the region play in their life history? That's one big question the scientists will be exploring, with a special focus on blue, mako, and great white sharks

"New York Aquarium scientists have been studying the movements of blue and mako sharks offshore since 2012, and we expect our partnership with OCEARCH to shed additional light on when the sharks are in our waters, their migratory pathways, and how we can improve our conservation efforts," said Merry Camhi of the aquarium.
