Summer Camps

Have an unforgettable Summer Camp experience at the New York Aquarium! During our week-long camp sessions we offer age-appropriate experiences that build on our campers' innate love of our blue planet.

  • The New York Aquarium will offer two different camps on alternating weeks for each age group so children can attend more than one session. The different themes camps are designed to complement and build upon each other.
  • We are also pleased to offer an option for extended-day camp that runs until 5:30 p.m. each day. ($125 per week)

The NY Aquarium Summer Camp experience includes:

  • Explorations of marine life on the beach
  • Live animal encounters
  • Creative art projects
  • Interactive games
  • Science experiments
  • Exhibit visits and meeting aquarium staff
  • Role-play and theatrical exercises
  • Snack time (campers bring their own lunch)
  • NYA Summer Camp t-shirt

Campers return home with wonderful stories and crafts, a better understanding of natural world, and lifelong memories. Each day will inspire your child to share new experiences and knowledge about the diversity of aquatic animals that share our planet! Extended-day Camp

  • Ages: All Ages
  • Days & Time: Monday – Friday, 3-5:30 p.m.
  • Fee: $125 (must pay for the full week, single day options are not available)

During this post camp experience, your child will let the ocean exploration continue! After a snack, campers will engage in a variety of activities including going on a scavenger hunt, animal encounters, checking out the sea lion show, crafts, games, and more.


Tidal Tykes

  • Ages: PreK or K
  • Days & Time: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Fee: $425 non-members; $400 members

Theme: Hide and "Sea"k.

Tag, you're it! Many marine animals work together to find food, seek shelter, stay healthy and avoid being eaten. We'll discover characteristics that make these animals great teammates through games, stories, experiences with animals, exhibit visits, crafts, and more.

Theme: Amazing Aquarium Animals.

Calling all animal lovers! During this camp week, we'll learn about the amazing animals that call the New York Aquarium home. Each day we'll focus on a different animal or exhibit through live animal encounters, art making, stories, songs, and play. Campers will delight in the magic of discovery as they come to know the unique characteristics that make these animals so special.

Theme: Ocean Rainforests.

Did you know that coral is a living, breathing animal? We'll explore these incredibly diverse ecosystems and discover how coral reefs provide food and shelter to many ocean residents. These wonders of the ocean will come alive through encounters with coral reef animals, games, and art-making activities.

Theme: Walk the Plank-ton.

"X" marks the spot in this pirate themed camp! Trade out your peg legs for penguins and piranhas as we "sail" the seven seas in search of treasures of the aquatic variety. Enjoy this week filled with hands on science, geography, art-making, and fun!

Theme: Ocean Art.

This camp brings together marine science and art making in a whole new way. We'll spend the week immersing campers in marine topics and then allow them to create something new to communicate what they learn.

Theme: Ocean Olympics.

In this week of competition, we uncover the strongest, fastest, sneakiest, and smartest animals of the ocean. Through animal observations, hands-on activities, and physical challenges we'll discover which animals take home the gold for being best adapted to living in ocean environments.

Theme: Shark Trackers.

Discover how scientists are using cutting edge technology to learn more about these misunderstood ocean creatures. We'll go hands-on with activities related to shark tagging and tracking, anatomy, and scientific investigations.

Theme: Coney Island Local.

Next stop, Coney Island! Get ready to be immersed in learning about the sandy shore habitat right at our doorstep. We'll visit local beaches and use scientific tools to learn about the animals who live here and the real challenges that threaten their health and habitat.

Camp Registration Information

Registration for camp is on a first come, first served basis. Our registrar will contact you to secure payment as we do not have an online payment option at this time. Upon complete registration following receipt of payment, you will receive a NY Aquarium Summer Camp Welcome Packet by email. Your packet will include important information, such as camp meeting locations, a camper pick-up authorization form, and a summary of what you can expect during camp.

If a camp session is full, your child can be placed on the Wait List. Being on the wait list does not guarantee registration. A spot will only open up for your child if someone else cancels a camp registration and you are next on the Wait List. Our Registrar can inform you of your placement on the wait list.
