Animal Enrichment
The Aquarium is a leader in promoting high standards of animal welfare and enrichment. Our enrichment programs seek to provide our animals with the same variety of physical and psychological challenges and activities that they would encounter in the wild.
The commitment to an ongoing animal enrichment program is essential to the success of any contemporary zoo or aquarium. Enrichment programs help us maintain the highest quality of life for our animals. As they bond with their trainers and keepers and enjoy specially prepared treats and toys, such as foraging logs or extra-durable balls, our animals have a good time, too!

Toys, such as barrels and balls, can be interesting and fun for our sea otters
Training sessions with our sea lions and walruses help us provide the best care
Hiding food in containers gives our octopus a physical and mental challenge

Sea Lion Shows
Enjoy our popular marine mammal training demonstrations starring our talented California sea lions. Daily session times are posted at the Aquatheater entrance.
