Summer by the Sea



Want to give your child a summer by the sea? Sign them up for an aquatic adventure they won’t soon forget. The New York Aquarium offers a variety of summer programs perfect for children and teens who love the deep. Each session is age-appropriate for the most fun and learning. Reservations are required for all sessions. Sessions can fill quickly, so act soon. For a flyer or to reserve a spot for your child, call 718-265-3448 or mail in the printable application form.

Aquatic Adventurers

Up-close encounters with our marine animals, behind-the-scenes tours, strolls on the beach, art activities, and opportunities to touch living sea stars and animal biofacts such as whale bones and shark teeth are all part of this unique summer program for children ages 6­–8.

Session A:  July 14-17 / 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Session B:  August 4-7 / 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Session C:  August 11-14 / 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Session D:  August 18-21 / 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Fee: $180 members; $205 non-members

Marine Explorers
Children ages 9-12 explore the Aquarium top-to-bottom, going behind-the-scenes to see how we care for our animals, and observing the marvelous marine creatures in our exhibits.  Biofact and live invertebrate handling, beach exploration, and art activities are all included in this exciting program.

Session A:  July 7-10 / 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
Session B:  July 28-31 / 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
Session C:  August 4-7 / 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
Session D:  August 18-21 /9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.
Fee: $225 members; $250 non-members


Marine Teen Intern Program
Teens 13–15 years old who are fascinated by aquatic life can get their feet wet by learning firsthand about a variety of marine careers. They’ll handle invertebrate animals, explore habitats, get behind-the-scenes exhibit tours, conduct experiments, and interact with Aquarium staff. Participants will also have the opportunity to create an educational project for public display.

Session: Monday-Friday, July 7-July 25 / 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Fee: $900 members; $975 non-members
