Spend part of your day at the Aquarium enjoying aquatic-themed activities that are fun and educational. Here are upcoming events for families to enjoy together:

Baby It’s Cold Outside – A Two-Day Winter Mini-Camp


When: Monday December 29th, 2014 and Tuesday December 30th, 2014 (a 2-day drop-off program)
Ages: 6 to 8

How do animals deal with the cold? Warm up with us as you discover the many different adaptations marine animals have in order to survive in cold water habitats.

This 2-day program will include:
  • Hands-on exploratory activities
  • Fun games
  • Crafts to celebrate our well-insulated marine friends
Times: 9:00am to 3:00pm
Fee: $225 non-members / $210 members (for both days)

Blubbery Beings


When: Sunday January 11th, 2015
Ages: 6 to 8

Walruses, sea lions and seals, oh my! Join us and learn about these interesting marine mammals that spend time in water and on land. Visit some of our resident animals and learn how they move, breathe, and stay warm. Take home a walrus puppet as a reminder of your experience.

Time: 2pm to 3pm
Fee: $35 non-member / $25 member (covers 1 adult & 1 child admission and program; extra child or adult = $8)

Love Is In The Air & In The Water!


When: Saturday February 14th, 2015

Celebrate the ones you love by making a Valentine’s Day card with your favorite aquatic animal on it.

World Explorers – A Four-Day Mid-Winter Mini-Camp


When: Tuesday February 17th, 2015 to Friday February 20th, 2015 (a 4-day drop off program)
Ages: 9 to 11

Go back in time and jump to the present to explore the mysteries and feel the excitement of past world expeditions! Discover what it takes to plan an ocean expedition and use that knowledge to plan your own journey to a habitat that you create. During this 4-day program, Explorers will travel to other habitats through exhibit visits, learn about marine animals from a keeper's eye-view, and get creative through hands-on activities and art projects. It's going to be a world of fun!

Times: 9:00am to 3:00pm
Fee: $300 non-members / $280 members (for both days)

Sharkarama


When: Sunday March 22nd, 2015
Ages: 9 to 11

It's a shark party! Sharks are the ocean's top predator, though they tend to have a fearsome reputation. Let us celebrate these misunderstood creatures of the sea that have survived hundreds of millions of years in the open waters; but, now are threatened with extinction. Feeling brave? Join us to learn what makes each shark unique at the aquarium; explore shark skins, jaws and fins; prowl behind-the-scenes to visit our sharks; and make cool crafts in honor of sharks to take home.

Time: 2pm to 3pm

Amazing Moms: Sea Otters


When: Sunday May 10th, 2015
Ages: Open to all; children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Celebrate mothers everywhere as you learn about an amazing marine mom - the sea otter! How do they care for their young? How long do pups stay with their mothers? What do they learn from them? Take home an otter craft that will remind you of a mother’s protection of her young.

Celebrating Dads: Penguins


When: June 21st, 2015
Ages: Open to all; children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

As we honor our dads let’s learn about incredible dads in the marine world. Emperor Penguin dads, for example, brave the cold and face danger and starvation to protect their egg and raise their chick. Take the Emperor Penguin challenge, learn more about our resident black-footed penguins, and bring home a penguin craft to remind you of awesome dads everywhere!
